This is the second album from Wendy and Lisa... the most recent being White Flags of Winter Chimneys which is not sold through Amazon yet but can only be purchased through their `official' website. This album provides a continuation of the funk-driven songs found on their first album ("Wendy and Lisa"). The album opens with a `funk trifecta' of songs, namely "Lolly Lolly", "Are You My Baby", and "Satisfaction". The album then switches gears and presents several more `mellow' compositions: "Always in My Dreams" (with great piano work from Lisa), and "Everyday" (which is terrific mixture of R&B with a hint of jazz). The album then moves on to "From Now On (We're One)"; a song that, perhaps, can be described as `soft rock with a touch of r&b'. The next song appearing on the album is "Tears of Joy" which is a beautiful `slow jam' contemplating the ability of love to produce seemingly conflicting emotions: `Tears of Joy, Smiles of Sorrow'. "Someday I" is the next cut from the album and is a song that is exemplary of the influence that they had on Prince as it sounds like something that could have made it onto the Around the World in A Day album. The next song is a surprising Gospel-reminiscent "I Think It Was December". This song has a definite Gospel feel to it but doesn't get overly `preachy'. "I Think It Was December" truly exemplifies the wide range of music that Wendy and Lisa are capable of writing. Finally, the album ends where it began; with a funk driven song called "Fruit at the Bottom", the album's title track. This album is a must-have for Wendy and Lisa fans! It is the `funkiest' album of their 5 and is a testament to their wide-ranging musical genre capabilities. I highly recommend it!
